Description

On offer today is a Very Rare Sheffield Mammoth Tooth handled Letter Opener, with a sterling silver blade.

Almost 200 years old!

The Letter Opener is fully hallmarked with the letter d for 1827, the Lion Passant (English Silver), the Monarch’s Head (for George IV, who reigned between 1820 and 1830) and the Crown (for the Sheffield Assay Office). The piece also bears the Makers Mark  WN – the Makers Mark for the highly sought after William Nowill. This item and its hallmarks are in pristine condition, as the images show.

The Letter Opener measures 18cm and weighs 40 grammes.
