Description

Handmade Genuine First Pattern (Type 1) Original Commando Knife Black Blade Made in Sheffield England – LIMITED STOCK!

Here is a fantastic opportunity to purchase a genuine First Pattern Black Army Issue Commando Knife. The Knife has ‘J Nowill & Sons Sheffield’ Stamped on the Diamond Guard. There is also the model number and the Crows Foot to show that the piece is MOD Issue. Every component of this item is manufactured by hand by the finest craftsmen, from the handle, guard, blade – all here in Sheffield. The knurled handle gives an exquisite grip. The Blade is treated with Carbon Phosphate that gives the blade its famous black finish. The iconic 1st pattern is easily distinguishable from the Second pattern and the Third Pattern through the use of the ‘S’ shaped crossguard and the distinct etched ‘F-S Knife’ square ricasso rather than a straight ground blade into the crossguard. Production began around November 1940 and lasted until August 1941.

The Knife measures 30.5cm and weighs 250 grammes.  The piece also comes complete with a Black Leather Leg Sheath with a polished nickel tip, also Made in England. It is not required to sharpen the Fairbairn Sykes knife. This is because historically, it was made as a stabbing knife, not a cutting knife and is therefore not made with a razor sharp edge as this was not the original purpose of the knife.

All models and variations of Commando Knives are limited stock items that will sell out incredibly quickly due to their famous reputation, so please take the opportunity whilst you can!
